The Prophet, the Shepherd, and the Star by Jenny L. Cote 511 pages

I read the book The Prophet, the Shepherd, and the Star by Jenny L. Cote.  I finished this book in March 2011.  This book is about Max, Liz, Kate, Al, Nigel, and Gillmon and their journeys for the Lord.

I liked this book because it takes some of the minor prophets and puts them into story.  It makes them much more interesting and gets you thinking more about them.  It amazing to see how hundreds of years before Jesus was born there were prophecies about him that were true. The Prophet, the Shepherd, and the Star goes through the 400 years before Jesus's birth and child hood.

I really this book.  I would definitely recommend this book to others.

Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse 227 pg.

I read the book Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse.  I finished this book on June 5, 2011.  This book is about a girl named Billie Jo and her troubles in life.

What I liked about this book is that it's all poetry.  It gives the story a beat and it makes you slow down and think about the story.  When she is playing piano, the word seem to flow on the page and when the author wants something to stand out she puts it on it's own stanza.  I think that it is a really cool way to write especially when all the different poems together make a story.

I liked the book Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse.  Its sad in some parts but its a really good book.  I would recommend this  book to others.

The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom with John and Elizabeth Sherrill 239 pg.

My class read the book The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom with John and Elizabeth Sherrill.   We finished this book on May 25, 2011.  This book is about Corrie Ten Boom and her family in WWII.  Corrie and her family held Jews and gave them homes.

What I liked about this book is that it showed what amazing christians the Ten Boom family was. It really inspired me to think about my family.  For one thing Corrie's father was always loving, calm, and caring to others, even when it might have put his own life in danger.  Betsie was always loving on others even when they were hurting her and being unfair.  Corrie (and me also) was always blown away when Betsie prayed for the guards.

I loved this book.  It was sad but also amazing of what good christians they were.  I would definitely recommend this book to others.

Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan 253 pg.

I read Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan.  I finished this book in April,  2011.  This book is about a young girl named Esperanza.  She lives in Mexico, but when her father died trouble starts to come.  Esperanza and her mother escape to California where they start a new and hard life.

What I liked about Esperanza Rising is that Esperanza changes though out the book.  In the beginning she  lives in a big house and her father own a grape farm.  When her father died she lost everything.   When she escapes to California she has to work on a farm.  At first she is disgusted by it because she is use to slaves working for her.  But she changes and by the end she is kind and works hard.

I really liked Esperanza Rising.  Its fun and it has lots of small problems, challenges and surprises that  Esperanza has to over come.   I would definitely recommend this book to others.

Something To Sing about by C. C. Payne 165 pages

I read the book Something to sing about by .  I finished this book in March, 2011.  This book is about a young girl named Jamie Jo Morgan and she is terrified of bees, she couldn't even go across the street t see the new neighbors.  Though out the book she learns to conquer her fear of bee and much more.

One thing that I liked about this book is when the church gets blown up but their was not one inside the church.  They were all late for just ordinary reasons like extra long phone calls or traffic and other things.  Even her mother, who always got there early, was not early that morning because she had been fired from the choir group.  It made me think that God really did have the power over everything and that he watches out for us.

I liked this book.  Its really made me think of my life.  I would deafeningly recommend this book to others.

The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin 182 pages

I read the book The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin.  I finished this book on April 4, 2011.  This book is about Mr. Westing's deaf and his will.  Mr. Westings will sends out 18 people to play the westing game, the goal of the game is to find out how murdered Mr. Westing.

What I really liked about The Westing Game was how Ellen Raskin fit every thing in so that you don't see it until the end.  The 18 people that were picked were split into groups of two each given some clues.  As soon as one group finds something out you think that it is one person but then when you learn more about that person you don't think them.  I think that she did a really good job making it harder for you and the characters to find out who the murder is.

This was a really fun book.  It really makes you really think.  I would recommend The Westing Game to other people.

The Last Olympian, by Rick Riordan 318 pg.

I read the book The Last Olympian, by Rick Riordan.  I finished this book on February 12, 2010.  This book is about Percy Jackson and the Olympian in the last battle for life.

What I liked about this book is that in the end all of the gods come together to fight.  I think that that is a good ending, not only for the end of the book but also for the end of the series.  In all of the book the gods would disagree and think of them selfs better than others.  But in the end they all have to work together to defeat the enemy.  I think that it wraps up the story well.

The Last Olympian is a funny, lots of wars, and you fall into love with the characters.  I would definitely recommend this book to other people.

Nate Saint, by Janet and Geoff Benge 200 pg.

I read Nate Saint by Janet and Geoff Benge. The class finished this book on January, 2010. This book is about Nate Saint and his life as a missionary.

One thing that really stood out to me was how Nate Saint used his life.  In stead of taking the safe way of life, Nate took the risky way.  For instance, Nate went to the army when he could have stayed in his safe job.  Nate also went into dangerous Auca territory to tell them about the Lord.  When the Auca's attacked, Nate and his friends didn't fight back because they had promised that they would not kill any of the Auca's because they did not know the the Lord.  That is showing lots of courage.

Nate Saint was a outstanding person and he was very strong in his faith.  I had a fun time reading about his life and I would definitely recommend this book to others.

Harry Potter and the deathly hallows, by J.K. Rowling 759 pg.

I read Harry Potter and the deathly hallows, by J.K. Rowling. I finished this book on January, 2010.  This book is about Harry's last year that we would be at Hogwarts and how he defeats Voldemort.

I liked this book because it does not go on and on with unneeded information. You are wandering what is going to happen.  It always has you hooked.  In my own writing I always go no and on and my books are only three pages long!  It is like J.K. Rowling catches your interest and she does not let go until you finish the book.

I enjoyed reading this book.  I would defiantly recommend Harry Potter and the deathly hallows to other people.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling 652 pg.

I read Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling.  I finished this book on December 28, 2010.  This book is about Harry Potter's 6th year at Hogwarts school and all the ups and downs in his life.

One thing that surprised me in Harry Potter is that he took away one of the main charters, Albus Dumbledore (the head master of Hogwarts).  In all of the books up to the sixth book, Dumbledore would explain every thing that happened in the book to Harry.  At the end of book six, Dumbledore dies, leaving Harry to find  things out for himself.  I think that it is a good set up for the next book because it makes things harder for Harry to figure things out with out Dumbledore telling him out it.

I really liked  Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling.  It full of adventure, mysteries, fights, and love.  I would defiant recommend this book to other people.

Paint The Wind, by Pam Munoz Ryan 312 pg.

I read Paint The Wind, by Pam Munoz Ryan.  I finished this book on December 3, 2010.  This book is about Maya and that her parents died and she was sent to her grandmas house to live, but she finds out that grandmas house is not where she belongs.  She belongs with the horses.

I liked the way that the author finished the book Paint the wind.  In the end Maya lets Artemisia (a horse that Maya love) go back her wild group of horses.  In makes you want to smile and feel for Maya.  I liked that because it finishes the book with emotions.  It leaves you feeling happy.  I liked the ending with that feeling because it fells like it finishes the book.

I liked the book Paint The Wind.  I would definitely recommend it to other people.
